It is safe to say that there is no 100% perfect betting strategy. What I mean by that, is you will not win every single bet you place.

It is all about finding the right strategy to suit your needs. One of those strategies is called ‘Dutching’.

Throughout this guide I will explain all about Dutching and how it can benefit you as a bettor.

What Is Dutching?

Dutching or Dutch Betting as it is also known, is a special type of matched betting. This form of betting allows you to back more than one outcome in a single bet.

They say ‘every day is a school day’, well I have found something out that I never knew and I would like to share it with you. The term Dutch Betting is believed to have been penned by Arthur Flegenheimer – or Dutch Schultz as he was known. Dutch Schultz was an accountant for the mob and he used his skills to manipulate odds that allowed him to profit greatly.

Enough of the history lesson. Dutching gives you the opportunity to back more than one outcome on the same sporting event – usually using different bookmakers. American Football and horse racing are the two main sports that have an interest in Dutching, although it does occur in soccer on occasion.

The aim of backing multiple outcomes on a soccer match is to eventually profit from one of your selections. Your stake will be split and placed accordingly. Dutching is a way of reducing your loss risk, but you need to get the amounts you place just right so the amount of money you will receive is around the same regardless of the result.

Examples Of Dutching

Punters use horse racing and the NFL as their playground when it comes to Dutching, but you are on this page because you are interested in soccer. So, this section will cover how you can use Dutching Betting in soccer matches.

The main market in soccer for Dutching is predicting the correct score. Going down the correct score route can prove beneficial because the returns are much higher. B y covering more than one score, you could be on course for a good payout if one of them comes in.

Backing the correct score in a soccer match is not the easiest bet to predict, but you have the opportunity to make some money using the Dutching method. As I have said in the majority of these guides, do your research first. Do not be swayed by the big odds if there is no realistic chance of it happening.

If say, Manchester City are on a run of eight wins in succession and averaging three goals a game, it would not make sense to back a draw at 0-0, 1-1 or 2-2. You would be looking at the possibility of City winning 2-0, 3-0, 4-0 or even 5-0.

Go through their recent form and how many goals they have scored and how many their opponents have conceded. Doing research makes it easier to predict the score line, although it is never a dead cert.

Simple Dutch Betting

  • £10 on Liverpool to beat Manchester United 2-0 @ 10/1
  • Winnings = £110
  • £10 on Liverpool to beat Manchester United 1-0 @ 12/1
  • Winnings = £130
  • £10 on Liverpool to beat Manchester United 2-1 @ 9/1
  • Winnings = £100

Total Stake – £10 + £10 + £10 = £30

  • Bet 1 wins = £100 profit
  • Bet 2 wins = £120 profit
  • Bet 3 wins = £90 profit

If any of those three bets come in and you take away the £30 stake, you will still have at least a profit of £60 and at most £90 profit. Obviously it is a risk that it will end up in any of those scorelines, but you get the idea.

Brief Facts On Dutching

  • Dutching allows you to split your bet and cover a number of selections
  • Dutching is popular in horse racing, although it can be used in most sports
  • You can combine your bet with different markets, ie, BTTS, correct score, match result and much more
  • Correct score market is the most used in soccer matches for Dutching
  • Use an online Dutching calculator to work out how much you need to bet – more in the next section

What Is A Dutching Online Calculator?

A Dutching calculator is a specific betting tool that works out the amount you need to bet in order for your strategy to be successful. The online calculator takes your stake and odds and comes up with your potential payout.

It is a simple and effective tool and is there to allow punters to make more informed decisions.

Why Should I Use A Dutching Calculator?

The main aim of an online calculator is to cut out the middleman in terms of calculating your odds. The calculate will present the odds to you and helps you make an informative decision on how much to stake on your bet.

Step-By-Step Guide

  1. Find an online Dutching calculator
  2. Fill in each odds section with the relevant odds
  3. This could be up to 12 selections
  4. Enter the actual total combined amount you want to stake
  5. The calculator will work out all the figures
  6. At the side of each bet, you will see the amount you need to stake in order to receive your total profit

Below is the example I used for a correct score strategy for a Premier League soccer match between Aston Villa and Sheffield United.

SelectionOddsOverall Stake – £20Individual Stake
Draw 1-114/1£4.37
Villa to win 1-017/2£6.90
Villa to win 2-013/2£8.73
Profit if any win£45.52
Return if any win£65.52

Dutching Pros and Cons

  • Profits guaranteed if done correctly
  • Easy to follow and understand
  • Most sports cover Dutching
  • Possibility of being banned if overusing on one bookmaker

Final Say On Dutching Betting

Dutching can work if the odds are worth it when it comes to splitting your bet. This is not a surefire way to make money and beat the bookmakers – that is impossible and there will never be a way to do that. You need to be ready to lose your stake, so bet what you can afford.

Of course, you are not throwing your money away all the time. Do your research on the game you are betting on and split your bet enough to ensure a profit no matter what the outcome is.
