Draw No Bet Guide: Getting to Know the Draw No Bet Markets & How They Work

How many times have you placed a soccer acca and a team lets you down because they have drawn rather than won the game. I know it has happened to me on many occasions.

Have you considered using draw no bet? This market can be used on single bets or in a larger accumulator.

During this guide I will explain the ins and outs of draw no betting and what it means to you on your betting journey.

What Is Draw No Bet?

Sometimes things are just self-explanatory. A draw no bet is one of those. If there is a draw in your selected bet, then the bet is cancelled and you receive a refund.

It is quite risky to back draws in single matches or accas, that is why the odds are normally very decent. I know when I do an acca, I just back a certain team to win and never consider the draw – maybe I should now.

Doing a draw no bet as a single will see you receive your stake back if the match you selected ended in a draw. If you do a draw no bet acca, then if any draws occur your bet will continue but with reduced odds. If you placed a normal acca on a certain team to win and a game ended in a draw, your bet would lose. It is worth considering when a match is difficult to predict.

Examples Of Draw No Bet

The best way to understand draw no bet is to study the three main examples. The below table will explain how each one works.

Winning BetManchester City are playing Everton in the Premier League and you back Everton to win in the draw no bet market. This bet will win if the Toffees win the game. The scoreline does not matter as long as the Blues win the match. The odds will be more attractive for an Everton win over one for City.
Losing BetIn the same game, if City won then you would have a losing bet on your hands.
Returned StakeLet’s say Everton go to City in search of just one point and they park the bus. If the game is a draw after 90 minutes, your bet is cancelled and your stake is returned to you.

Here is a brief example of a draw no bet with the match odds:

Arsenal v West Ham United Draw No Bet:  Backing West Ham to win

  • Draw No Bet
  • Arsenal 1/12
  • West Ham 7/1
  • If West Ham win, your bet is successful
  • If Arsenal win, your bet loses
  • If it’s a draw, you get your stake back

Arsenal v West Ham United Draw No Bet:  Backing Arsenal to win

  • Draw No Bet
  • Arsenal 1/12
  • West Ham 7/1
  • If Arsenal win, your bet is successful
  • If West Ham win, your bet loses
  • If it’s a draw, you get your stake back

Why Should I Use Draw No Bet?

Personally, I have never used draw no bet on any of my accumulators, but I will be honest with you, I wish I had this season. I am still kicking myself now.

I recently placed a six-fold acca at 37/1. I was excited as all my teams were winning heading into injury time. Leicester, Ipswich, Southampton, Charlton, Northampton and Blackpool were all in front and I was spending my £370 winnings in my head.

Then it all came crashing down. In the sixth-minute of injury time, Watford equalised against Southampton and three seconds later Cambridge levelled after being 2-0 down. I was crushed, I still am can’t you tell?

That was soul destroying. To see a bet collapse like that with literally the last kick of the game. IF I had done a draw no bet acca, then at least I would have made some profit. Not the full amount I grant you, but it would have been a nice win nonetheless.

Is Double Chance The Same As Draw No Bet?

If you back a soccer match on the double chance market, you are essentially backing two results.

Your choices are:

  • Home team to win & draw
  • Away team to win & draw
  • Home team to win & away team to win

Some people see double chance betting as a negative strategy, but if you are backing against a heavy favourite then the odds could be quite lucrative. You just need to ask yourself if the bet has an actual chance of winning.

  • Lowers risk of losing
  • Insurance on your bet
  • Money back if draw
  • Odds are lower
  • Odds not worth it for strong favourites

Final Say On Draw No Bet

The draw no bet option is a good system to use if you want a little bit of extra insurance. If you back the system in a single match then the odds might not be that great. Throwing in some draw no bet odds into an accumulator will help and if you have a draw then your bet will still continue albeit with the odds coming in lower than when you staked the bet.

Although some bettors wager big amounts on this kind of betting, some may see it as a fun option with a good chance of making a little money. It keeps your betting relatively safe and you still have a good chance of being successful. It is also a good strategy if you are new to betting and just want to get a feel of the different markets.

Draw No Bet FAQ

❓ What is Draw No Bet?

Draw no bet basically means you bet on a specific team to win, if they win your bet is successful, but if the game ends in a draw then your stake is refunded.

👍🏻 Can I use Draw No Bet On An Acca?

Yes you can. If you are unsure on a match result, it makes sense to throw a draw no bet into the mix. If the game ends in a draw, rather than receive your stake back like you would in a single bet, your acca will continue albeit at lower odds..

❌ Do You Have To Back The Favourite in Draw No Bet Accas?

No, there is no rule that you have to back the favourite. Throwing in some underdogs would increase your odds, but you need to be sure that there is a possibility of that happening.
